EV Deployment Guidelines
Smart Freight Centre has released the EV Deployment Guidelines, a comprehensive resource co-developed with Maersk to guide fleet owners through the electrification of trucking operations. This marks a pivotal step in accelerating the global shift to eTrucking, which goes far beyond emissions cuts - it's a fundamental transformation of logistics business models, infrastructure, and strategies.
The transition to electric trucks represents one of the most signficant shift in logistics history. Rather than just an emissions reduction solution; it is an invitation to completely overhaul our operating and business models. At SFC, we've spent years clearing the path by partnering with shippers, LSPs, carriers, OEMs, charging ecosystems, and policymakers to identify challenges and best practices.
Maersk has been an invaluable partner in this journey. They've supported key initiatives like the Electric Drayage Alliance and shared hard-won insights from their own pilots and business integration efforts. This guideline is the direct result of that partnership, offering fleet owners a pragmatic framework to escape the "pilot trap" and scale effectively.
This document equips industry leaders with structured phases (Planning, Implementation, Execution/Pilot, and Scaling) proven by real-world success, ensuring actionable steps for sustainable fleet transformation during this messy but inevitable transition.
To make this actionable, Maersk has contributed MVP (Minimum Viable Product) decision support tools. These tools are based on the actual logic and thinking Maersk uses for their own fleets and vendors, providing companies with a concrete starting point.
