New Delhi, India – May 18, 2026 – Smart Freight Centre (SFC) has joined the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) as an Associate Member. This collaboration brings together SFC’s expertise in freight emissions measurement and ecosystem collaboration with IAPH’s global leadership in sustainable port operations. Together, the organizations will focus on knowledge sharing, industry engagement, and practical solutions to reduce emissions across maritime transport.

Through initiatives like Clean Cargo, the Global Ro-Ro Community, and the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI), SFC already promotes transparency and standardized accounting within ocean freight. Joining IAPH opens new avenues to work directly with ports, shipping carriers, logistics providers, and cargo owners navigating the challenges of decarbonization.

As global trade continues to evolve, ports will play a central role in enabling the decarbonization of freight and maritime transport. Smart Freight Centre is delighted to join IAPH and collaborate with its global membership to help accelerate practical, scalable solutions across emissions accounting, green shipping corridors, clean fuels, and supply chain transparency. Together, we can strengthen the transition toward a more sustainable, resilient, and future-ready maritime ecosystem.

We welcome Smart Freight Centre to our associate membership. A principal challenge faced by the maritime logistics chain is to look at measuring emissions across all cargo transport modes, which also touches ports. We look forward to Smart Freight Centre outlining their solutions to our membership and the potential role ports can play in that process.

Moving forward, SFC and IAPH will explore opportunities to work together on initiatives focused on operational efficiency and the long-term sustainability of maritime logistics.

About IAPH

Founded in 1955, the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) has developed into a global alliance of 206 port authorities as well as 177 port-related businesses. Comprised of over 94 different nationalities across the world’s continents, member ports handle over one third of the world’s sea-borne trade and well over 60% of the world container traffic. Since 1967, the Association has represented port authorities and operators as the official UN-recognized consultative NGO of the International Maritime Organization, fostering industry collaboration and excellence. IAPH leads global port industry initiatives on decarbonization and energy transition, risk and resilience management, and accelerating digitalization in the maritime transport chain. The IAPH’s World Ports Sustainability Program has grown into the reference database of best practices of ports applying the UN Sustainable Development Goals and integrating them into their businesses – iaphworldports.org.
