To support organizations in meeting logistics emissions reporting standards, Smart Freight Centre has launched a new Interpretation Service as part of its Conformity Assessment Scheme.

What is an Interpretation?

Interpretations provide formal normative clarifications on requirements within the Smart Freight Centre normative structure, which includes mandatory specifications, manuals, and procedures for approved VVBs and listed ERs. These responses go beyond everyday inquiries, offering detailed guidance on accounting and reporting requirements.

Why It Matters?

Many technical questions arise regarding compliance and emissions reporting. While informal guidance is provided through FAQs, calls, and emails, interpretations offer official, structured responses to ensure clarity.

  • Consistency– Ensures aligned understanding of requirements across the industry.
  • Transparency – Recognizing that these clarifications are valuable beyond the requesting party, we regularly publish a public summary of issued interpretations, making key insights accessible to all.
  • Stronger Industry Practices – Helps organizations confidently apply SFC’s normative framework in their emissions reporting.
