The Electrifying Drayage Alliance (EDA) is a partnership between the Smart Freight Centre and The Climate Pledge, launched in 2025 to accelerate the transition to electric port drayage globally.
EDA brings together global brands and cargo owners, logistics service providers, carriers, charge point operators, and other solution providers to align demand, coordinate deployment, and scale electric drayage at key ports.
EDA is already engaging a growing group of global brands, logistics providers, and solution partners, with initial coalitions forming at priority ports across North America, Europe, and Asia to support near-term electric truck deployment.
By connecting global commitments with local action, EDA works with ports and ecosystem partners to overcome deployment barriers and enable real-world implementation.
Why Drayage?
Port drayage, the movement of containers from ports to nearby warehouses, is one of the most promising opportunities for electrification.
Concentrated flows, short, predictable routes, high vehicle utilization and strong commitment from ports and customers make this a natural starting point for electric trucking.
How it works
EDA is building a global alliance that connects into local, port-based coalitions - where progress happens in practice.
- Global alliance: Aligns brands/cargo owners, logistics providers and other partners to a common goal
- Local coalitions: Focus on priority ports across North America, Europe and Asia
- Port-level coordination: Supports collaboration between brands/cargo owners, logistics service providers, carriers and infrastructure partners
- Coalitions: Are being established and will evolve as deployment scales
This model enables coordinated progress globally while focusing on practical implementation at the port level.
Why should you join the EDA?
EDA is designed to deliver tangible value across the ecosystem:
- For cargo owners / brands: Accelerate supply chain/Scope 3 decarbonization through access to aligned partners and electric drayage opportunities
- For logistics service providers: Connect with customers and solution providers to enable electric freight solutions
- For carriers and operators: Gain visibility into future demand and participate in early electric truck opportunities
- For infrastructure and solution providers: Access a pipeline of demand and engage directly with port-level coalitions
When you join EDA you can help us identify priority ports, engage in local coalitions, participate in working sessions and, if desired, lead action pathways. Participation is free and flexible - companies can engage at their own pace.
Interested in joining?
The EDA is open to TCP signatories, SFC members, and other committed companies and organizations who wish to advance electric drayage at scale.

EV Deployment Guidelines
Smart Freight Centre has released the EV Deployment Guidelines, a comprehensive resource co-developed with Maersk to guide fleet owners through the electrification of trucking operations. This marks a pivotal step in accelerating the global shift to eTrucking, which goes far beyond emissions cuts - it's a fundamental transformation of logistics business models, infrastructure, and strategies.
