Projects

A Combination of All FEC Workstreams

Our projects are based on the theory of change of demand aggregation. We believe that we can significantly advance the adoption of electric trucks by securing a robust demand for zero-emission transportation services. Our members play a crucial role in this demand side of the market, and our objective is to mobilize them to commit to procuring these services, contingent on operational and financial viability.

Once we establish secured demand, we can incentivize carriers to begin offering the requested zero-emission services. This demand provides carriers with the confidence to invest in electric trucks, creating a ripple effect throughout the industry. As demand increases, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) will be encouraged to scale up production, charging solution providers will be more willing to invest in infrastructure, and the finance industry will step in with necessary financing solutions for electric trucks.

We envision this system as a flywheel: once set in motion, these interconnected actions will reinforce each other, accelerating the transition to electric trucks and establishing a sustainable ecosystem for zero-emission transportation.

e-Dutra Coalition Launches to Transform Brazil’s Mobility Future

The e-Dutra Coalition is a public–private partnership launched during COP30 to transform freight transport along Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro–São Paulo corridor into the country’s first zero-emission highway. Bringing together leading companies, infrastructure providers, and government partners, the coalition aims to deploy 1,000 electric trucks and a network of high-capacity chargers by 2030.

Rotterdam – Port Drayage

Smart Freight Centre, in partnership with the Climate Pledge, is developing a proof of concept for zero-emission port drayage operations in Rotterdam, Europe’s largest port. By aggregating demand from shippers and logistics service providers, the project aims to incentivize carriers to adopt electrified solutions, supported by a robust business case for e-trucks and infrastructure.

Poland Corridor

Poland, as Europe’s largest road freight operator, has immense potential for decarbonization. Smart Freight Centre, in partnership with PSNM, is launching a project focused on accelerating e-truck adoption in Poland. By aggregating demand data, identifying optimal charging locations, and leveraging upcoming government subsidies, the project aims to create a robust ecosystem for zero-emission long-haul transport.

Drayage Alliance

The Alliance aims to establish a global movement towards ZE drayage by enabling shippers to express intentions and carriers to showcase offerings. It transforms global ambition into local action through verified demand, policy support, and infrastructure. Members commit to ZE drayage when economically and financially viable, accelerating end-to-end supply chain decarbonization.

ZET SCALE – Zero-Emission Truck Shipper-Carrier Alliance Leading Electrification

ZET SCALE (Zero-emission Truck Shipper-Carrier Alliance Leading Electrification) is a flagship initiative led by Smart Freight Centre (SFC) and CALSTART to accelerate the adoption of battery-electric Class 8 trucks in North America by overcoming the primary barrier to scale: vehicle price.

US Interstate 10 Corridor

SFC and Terawatt Infrastructure, together with shippers like PepsiCo and Microsoft, are piloting long-haul electric trucks along the 800-mile (1,300-km) I-10 freight corridor from Los Angeles, California to El Paso, Texas—one of the busiest and most strategic trade routes in the United States. The pilot aims to launch operations by 2027 and serve as a catalyst for accelerating electric freight corridor development nationwide.

Western Corridor Consortium

A new Western EU Corridor is being launched in collaboration with our charging point partner, Milence following the success of our other zero-emission trucking corridors in Europe and the US.
