Poland
plays a central role in the European transport market as the largest road freight operator. The decarbonization potential in Poland is significant while the adoption of e-trucks is at its very early stages. Companies are showing a strong interest in speeding up the e-truck adoption in Poland as many of them have a large operational base within, through, or to and from Poland. Many of these companies are SFC members, that will strongly support their organization’s decarbonization ambitions. Innovative financing solutions will be needed to enable Polish carriers to join the transition. To support the TCO party for e-trucks, the Polish government is introducing subsidies for both e-trucks and charging infrastructure in the first half of 2025.
This project will consider both domestic and international routes to enable electric road transport. The initial focus is on the domestic triangle between Warsaw, Wroclaw, and Krakow and the international corridor from Warsaw to Poznan that can be extended to Berlin. Together with the Polish Alternative Fuel Association (PSNM) we believe in the importance of demand aggregation for the successful roll-out of zero-emission transportation services. Project participants will provide data regarding their operations and movements of goods and/or trucks. This summarized data will reflect the aggregated demand for a corridor in Poland and therefore function as indicator for highest priority corridor where we will focus our efforts. The analysis on the operational flow of trucks will also underwrite determination of optimal charging locations along the corridor, where depot charging, shared charging, and public charging will be considered. Securing low-cost energy is key to achieving a solid business case for e-truck adoption.
The Poland corridor project aims to demonstrate the impact of zero-emission fleets, accelerate long-haul truck use, and advance the path to cost parity. By capturing valuable insights and fostering a robust ecosystem for e-HDVs, we hope to inspire broader industry participation and drive innovation in electric transport solutions.
Do you have a large operation in or through Poland and interested to be ahead of the electric road freight adoption in Poland? Or are you a solution provider wanting to support adoption of zero-emission vehicles in Poland? We are keen to get in touch and ensure smooth implementation of e-truck technologies.
